My Alarm Center Announces Scholarship Winners
Three Students are Awarded Scholarships to Pursue Their Respective Criminal Justice/Law Related Degrees.
Newtown Square, Pennsylvania (August, 2014)
Originally, per the announced rules, My Alarm Center was to award one $1,000 scholarship, but due to an overwhelming number of deserving entries, the decision was made to award three students as recipients of their inaugural scholarship. The rules were amended during the committee's review process, which will now award two $500 scholarships to second and third place, in addition to the original $1,000 scholarship to the winning entry. As part of My Alarm Center's commitment to improving the home security and home automation industry, the goal for this scholarship program is to promote and support those who are studying to make our neighborhoods a safer place. The students were selected by an internal committee comprised of individuals from the marketing and executive leadership teams.
The scholarship recipients are:
Elizabeth Stewart, 26, Anchorage, Alaska, was awarded first place and is the recipient of a $1,000 scholarship. Elizabeth is a junior at The University of Phoenix, where she is pursuing her Bachelor's of Criminal Justice with a Concentration in Human Services. In addition to being a student, she is a fulltime mother, wife, and employee.
Tiara Hester, 19, Miami, Florida, was awarded second place and is the recipient of a $500 scholarship. Tiara is a sophomore at Florida Gulf Coast University, where she is pursuing her Bachelor's in Forensics Studies in order to one day serve her community as a forensic investigator.
James Alexander, 29, Yulee, Florida, was awarded third place and is the recipient of a $500 scholarship. James is a sophomore at The University of Phoenix, where he is pursuing his Bachelor's in Organizational Security and Management. Prior to enrolling at The University of Phoenix, James served in the Navy for 10 years.
"We are extremely proud and excited to provide these scholarships in support of those who are currently pursuing a degree in criminal justice to improve the security and wellbeing of their communities," said Amy Kothari, President and CEO of My Alarm Center. "As a home security provider whose mission is to ensure the safety and security of our customers which provides peace of mind, we are honored to award Elizabeth, Tiara, and James with these scholarships and look forward to the meaningful impacts they will have in their communities."
